The theme for this project was smart environments. This refers to a system with the following properties: smart, autonomous, and hidden. Our take on this was WonderWall. It consists out of two systems: a LED lighting + Kinect lighting system and an app + remote screen system. The system is primarily designed to decrease loneliness of long term hospital patients, but the system can to be used in other places as well. The Kinect is placed in the hallway and is programmed to detect the location of people walking by. The LED strip, which is located in the patients room, creates auras at the location corresponding to the people in the hallway. The patient is able invite people in with the app and remote screen in the hallway.
